Ukrainian Rescuers Save Dog From Certain Death — Now She Needs a Home

While driving through Odessa, Ukraine, the rescuers spotted what they thought was a lifeless dog lying on the median of a busy highway.

At first, it seemed too late. But as one of the rescuers carefully approached, they realized the dog was still alive — though barely.

Upon closer inspection, it was clear that something was terribly wrong: her front legs appeared broken.

A Desperate Race Against Time

Fearing that the terrified pup might run into oncoming traffic, the rescuers acted quickly.

With the help of Olena, a fellow volunteer, they carefully lifted the injured dog and brought her safely into their vehicle.

Their next stop was the vet, where their worst fears were confirmed.

The young dog, now named Lucy, had suffered two broken front legs, likely the result of being hit by a car.

Even more heartbreaking, she had been left to suffer alone for days before anyone came to help.

A Long Road to Recovery

Lucy’s only chance at a normal life was surgery, which the veterinarians successfully performed.

But the battle wasn’t over yet — her healing process would take two long months.

To prevent further injury, Lucy had to be kept separate from other dogs at the shelter.

Though shy and nervous at first, she showed incredible strength throughout her recovery.

Now, Lucy is fully healed and has finally been able to play with the other rescue dogs. She has also started to trust humans again, enjoying the gentle touch of her caregivers.

Waiting for a Forever Home

Despite her incredible recovery, Lucy’s journey isn’t over yet. She still needs one thing: a loving family.

The rescuers at Love Furry Friends, who continue to save animals despite the challenges of war in Ukraine, are hopeful that Lucy will soon find a home where she will never have to suffer again.

For now, Lucy waits — but this time, she’s waiting for something beautiful: a second chance at life.
